Videographer / DOP - Virtual Production Studios The Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity for a Videographer / Director of Photography (DOP) to work within a virtual production environment, being responsible for the visual composition, camera operation, and lighting. Within the position you will work closely with the Producer, Artists, Stage Operator, Equipment Assistant, and Video Engineer to direct a shoot and ensure high-quality imagery is being captured within the creative and technical requirements.
The Role
- Operate and manage camera systems within a virtual production stage.
- Collaborate with the Producer and Creative Team to define shot composition, movement, and framing.
- Adjust camera settings, lenses, and exposure to achieve the desired look.
- Work closely with the Video Engineer or Stage Operator to ensure correct colour balance and image fidelity.
- Coordinate with the Stage Operator to align physical camera movement with virtual environments.
- Implement lighting setups that complement LED volumes or green screens.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to cameras, lenses, mounting kits and robotic motion control devices.
- Direct and coordinate talent on set, provide instructions to staff on set.
- Ensure the final output meets creative and technical requirements.
The Person
- Strong experience in cinematography and digital filmmaking.
- Proficiency with professional camera systems (e.G., ARRI, RED, Sony Venice, Canon).
- Knowledge of virtual production techniques, including LED volume workflows.
- Experience with camera tracking systems (e.G., OptiTrack, Mo-Sys, Vicon).
- Understanding of lighting principles.
- Ability to work in fast-paced production environments with real-time rendering engines (Unreal Engine knowledge is a plus).
