THE ROLE
ALOHAS is seeking a
Head of People (Interim / Maternity Leave Cover)
to lead a set of strategic People & Culture projects across HQ and Retail while our current Head of People is on leave.
You will be responsible for shaping our multi-country payroll & legal approach, enabling our 2026 retail expansion, redesigning performance reviews, and strengthening our People tech stack and compensation architecture
by defining clear roadmaps, piloting key initiatives and setting up scalable foundations for the long term.
YOUR CHALLENGE
1. Multi-Country Payroll, Labour Advisory & Retail Expansion 2026
- Map and assess
our current
payroll and labour advisory setup
across Spain and key international markets.
- Ensure
alignment with local labour laws and collective bargaining agreements
, offering clear, pragmatic guidance to HQ and Retail.
- Partner with Retail
to define the
hiring, contracting and onboarding approach
for 2026 store openings across markets.
- Build
labour and cost baselines by country
(contracts, working time, variables, etc.) to
inform store P&Ls; and expansion decisions
.
2. Performance Reviews 2.0
- Design
Performance Reviews 2.0
for HQ and retail, in line with our culture and business goals.
- Pilot the new framework in
selected teams and stores
, collect feedback and prepare for broader rollout.
- Connect performance reviews with
career development, feedback rituals and, where relevant, variable compensation
.
- Equip managers with
guides, training and tools
so they can run meaningful, consistent performance conversations.
3. AI & Hiring for Retail
- Lead the
AI & Hiring project for retail
in collaboration with our ATS / Teamtailor partner.
- Introduce or optimise
AI-supported tools
for sourcing, screening and matching candidates, ensuring fairness and compliance.
- Improve
time-to-hire, candidate experience and hiring manager experience
through better workflows and automation.
- Define and track
hiring KPIs
(time-to-fill, quality of hire, funnel conversion rates) for retail roles.
4. People Stack & Workforce Planning (HiBob, Teamtailor, Evolbe or Similar)
- Act as
product owner for our key People tools
: HRIS (e.G. HiBob), ATS (e.G. Teamtailor) and other platforms (e.G. Evolbe or similar).
- Define
processes, data standards and automation priorities
to ensure tools support how we operate day-to-day.
- Build and maintain
workforce planning frameworks and basic dashboards
linking headcount, FTEs, labour cost and structure.
- Partner with Finance on
People budgeting / forecasting
and support tracking vs. plan throughout the year.
5. People Operations & Hiring Support
- Support
hiring managers and the Talent & People Specialist team on key HQ and Retail roles (profile definition, interviews, final decisions), without directly owning all hiring processes.
- Provide hands-on support on day-to-day People topics (contracts and amendments, probation follow-up, employee relations, policy questions), while keeping focus on the strategic project roadmap.
- Act as a senior sparring partner for managers and team members on people-related topics, helping them make sound, people-centric decisions.
YOU WILL ROCK AT THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE…
- 8+ years of experience
in People / HR roles, with at least
3–5 years in a senior generalist or Head of People position
.
- Solid background in
multi-country payrol and labour law
, ideally including Spain and other EU countries;
exposure to USA is a plus. Proven experience
supporting retail or frontline operations
(store openings, retail roles, etc.).
- Hands-on experience
designing performance review frameworks, compensation structures and/or salary bands
.
- Strong comfort with
HR tech and data
(HRIS, ATS, payroll tools;
ideally HiBob, Teamtailor, Factorial, Evolbe or similar).
- Project management powerhouse
: able to prioritise, structure and deliver cross-functional initiatives on tight timelines.
- Strong
business acumen
: you understand labour cost impact, headcount planning and how People decisions shape performance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and
communication skills
, able to partner with C-Level, leadership and international partners.
- Fluency in Spanish and strong command of English;
other European languages are appreciated.
- You are comfortable in a
fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
, and you enjoy building processes while staying close to people.
