This role focuses on Ericsson's standardization contributions to 3GPP SA5, O-RAN Alliance WG1/WG2, and the TM Forum (TMF)—particularly in areas such as network management, intent modeling, and AI, including both classical (statistical) and generative AI approaches.

We are seeking a seasoned technology specialist to join a team at the forefront of rApp development within the Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) framework. This role focuses on Ericsson's standardization contributions to 3GPP SA5, O-RAN Alliance WG1/WG2, and the TM Forum (TMF)—particularly in areas such as network management, intent modeling, and AI, including both classical (statistical) and generative AI approaches.
As an Ericsson representative to standardization bodies, you will be responsible for shaping and driving industry alignment around intelligent network management and the evolution toward autonomous networks.
This role requires deep domain expertise in RAN and AI, along with a proven track record in telecom standardization and thought leadership. You'll work closely with internal product and research teams to translate standardization outcomes into impactful rApp architecture and design.
What you will do:
* Serve as Ericsson's lead representative in standardization bodies including 3GPP SA5, O-RAN WG1/WG2, and TM Forum, focusing on intent-based cellular network design, optimization, and closed-loop automation.
* Drive technical contributions in areas such as intent-based networking, MLOps, agentic systems, digital twins, knowledge management, conflict management and closed-loop automation.
* Define and lead the rApp-related standardization strategy, ensuring alignment with internal rApp development and productization goals.
* Represent Ericsson in industry discussions on Gen-AI, agentic architectures, and their relevance to 6G evolution.
* Analyse technology trends, identify gaps, and proactively draft/review technical proposals for inclusion in industry standards.
* Act as a key liaison between standardization efforts and internal product teams to ensure implementation alignment.
* Contribute to IPR development by identifying patentable ideas emerging from standardization work.
* Support thought leadership through white papers, conference presentations, and technical publications to reinforce Ericsson's industry leadership.
The skills you bring:
* 15+ years of experience in the telecom industry, with deep expertise in RAN features, interfaces, and data sets.
* Strong theoretical and practical understanding of AI techniques, including:
o Transformers
o Graph Neural Networks (GNNs)
o Bayesian probabilistic graphical models
o Deep autoencoders
o Machine reasoning techniques
o Reinforcement learning
o Generative AI
o Explainable AI
* Hands-on experience in rApp design or development is a strong plus.
* Proven track record of participation and leadership in 3GPP SA5, O-RAN WG1/WG2, and/or TM Forum.
* Experience in agentic architectures is considered a strong plus.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence technical consensus in standardization forums.
* Familiarity with the patent process and a strong IPR mindset.
* A Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
