The main differentiator in Valencia facilities is its design capabilities and the various engineering services it can provide to customers, creating a differential value beyond the regular electronic manufacturing services.Area/Department: Design and Engineering Services (D&ES)The Design and Engineering Services department in Celestica Valencia is specialized in the development of new products and electronic systems for both its customers (mostly international) and the production line within the factory. The D&ES team is composed of more than 20 specialist engineers: electronics, software, mechanics… that, in the end, build a multiskilled team able to carry on (almost) any kind of development projects. The areas in which these projects are developed are mainly related with healthcare and in‑vitro diagnosis, industrial, aerospace and test development.Detailed Description- Collaborate in different mechanical design activities related with the on‑going projects, always under the guidance and supervision of the responsible engineers.- Tasks include understanding basic product requirements, 2D and 3D design, materials selection, process design and selection, GD&T, risk analysis, Design for Manufacturing/Assembly analysis, etc.- Participate in the building of the needed prototypes for design verification and in the development of tools and documentation routines using suitable laboratory instruments and equipment.- Contribute to the development team, offering viewpoints and proposing solutions and alternatives to overcome development challenges.- Knowledge on 2D and 3D design tools such as SolidWorks.- Ability to develop, conceptualize and draft mechanical concepts based on requirements.- Knowledge of prototyping and 3D printing.- Knowledge of casting and plastic working processes.- Ability to structure Bill of Materials.- Fluent in English, both written and oral.- Familiar with design calculations and simulations: thermal, stress, fatigue, etc.Personal skills such as teamwork, initiative, accountability and meticulousness on every assigned task will be extremely valued as well as, obviously, the motivation to learn and continuously improve.NotesThis job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities of the position.
