The role
As a Data Engineer at Shalion, you will play a key role in building and optimizing data solutions. You will work with modern data technologies, automate workflows, and ensure high-quality data delivery to empower business decisions.
Your Responsibilities
- Ingest data from our internal cloud storage system via S3 using parquet files and Iceberg tables.
- Ingest data from our backend microservices databases via Airbyte.
- Be proficient in writing clear, efficient SQL queries.
- Develop and maintain data models in Snowflake, Looker, or Cube and dbt.
- Automate data pipelines using Apache Airflow.
- Apply software engineering practices like version control and continuous integration.
- Provide guidance to data visualization specialists and data scientists on engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with product teams to understand business requirements and deliver analysis-ready data.
Your profile should include the following
- 2+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering roles.
- Proficiency in SQL and data modeling.
- At least 2 year of experience with data-related programming languages like Python.
- Experience working with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP or Azure.
- Familiarity with GitHub best practices and daily usage for version control.
- Knowledge of software development best practices applicable to analytics, including testing, CI/CD, and automation.
- Understanding of Data Engineering fundamentals (ETL, Data Modeling, etc.).
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
- English level: B1 or higher.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with data modeling in DBT or similar tools.
- Experience with data-related programming languages like Java or Scala.
- Familiarity with data modeling techniques like Kimball.
- Knowledge of modern data table formats (Delta, Iceberg, or Hudi ).
