About IFAE
The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, a public university). IFAE’s main objective is to carry out research and contribute to the development of high energy physics from a theoretical, experimental and technological point of view. IFAE has the status of a “University Institute” attached to the UAB and its premises are within the campus of the University.
About Technical Division
The Technical Division of IFAE is a multidisciplinary team whose mission is to turn scientists’ projects into reality. It oversees the design and development of the mechanics, electronics, and software for the instrumentation required for each project.
Job Profile And Tasks
The selected candidate is expected to be responsible for:
* Manufacturing mechanical parts, including quality and metrology tests.
* Programming numerical control machines as needed, including 3D printers.
* Collaborating with the engineering department to provide solutions to project problems.
* Performing welding work.
* Assembling mechanical systems when required.
* Performing diagnostic tests on systems to ensure their operation.
* Maintaining the work environment: ordering tools and materials, cleaning, etc.
* Executing preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment; creating and implementing maintenance plans to avoid costly breakdowns.
* Transporting equipment and furniture when necessary, including loading trucks and operating cranes.
* Adjusting the configuration of machinery and equipment to improve efficiency.
* Designing small parts in the CAD system used at IFAE.
Specific Requirements And Merits To Be Assessed
* Academic transcript and letters of recommendation from the faculty of the institution where you studied.
* Experience in research workshops similar to IFAE.
* Motivation to work in a dynamic environment where there is no large production and the work is diverse.

* Degree and academic record – 30 points
* Self‑learning capacity – 40 points
* Programming and computing skills – 10 points
* Motivation – 20 points
Offered Contract
* Full‑time contract (40 h/week)
* Duration: 1 year
* Contract type: Indefinite Scientific and Technical Activities

* Salary will be proportional to experience and qualifications within the corresponding category range.
