Location:
Barcelona
Company:
MiWEndo Solutions
About us
MiWEndo Solutions is a clinical-stage spin-off from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. We are developing a novel accessory that integrates microwave imaging into standard colonoscopy to improve colorectal cancer prevention.
The role
We are looking for a
Radiofrequency Engineer
with at least one four years of experience to contribute to the design, development and validation of the RF hardware of our medical device. You will work across the full development cycle, from concept and electromagnetic simulation to laboratory validation and transfer to production, in close collaboration with software, mechanical and clinical teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, simulate, prototype and test RF components and subsystems, including antennas, feed lines, RF front-ends, matching networks and passive components.
- Collaborate in the preclinical and clinical validation of the device, supporting experimental campaigns, data acquisition and performance assessment.
- Define and execute RF test and validation plans, analyze results and verify compliance with system and design specifications.
- Propose and implement design improvements; troubleshoot and iterate on prototypes based on experimental and validation results.
- Ensure proper integration of RF modules with software and mechanical components; debug HW/SW/ME interfaces.
- Prepare clear technical documentation and periodic progress reports, including validation-related documentation when required.
- Collaborate with developers, project managers, QA/RA and the broader engineering team throughout development, validation, testing and production phases.
- Participate in regular team meetings to present results, discuss technical challenges and plan next steps.
Requirements (must-have)
- MSc or PhD in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Solid knowledge of RF systems and small-antenna design.
- Understanding of electromagnetic signal interaction with materials and biological tissues.
- Hands-on experience with RF laboratory equipment (VNA, spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators).
- Proficiency with RF simulation tools (CST Studio Suite or similar).
- Experience with PCB design and manufacturing for RF applications, including layout considerations for high-frequency circuits.
- Proficiency with PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad, or similar).
- Familiarity with RF circuit, antenna and PCB manufacturing techniques and tolerances.
- Programming experience in MATLAB.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
- Pragmatic, detail-oriented and proactive mindset, with the ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with S-parameter analysis, calibration, and de-embedding.
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI design practices and shielding.
- Experience in medical devices or other safety-critical environments.
What we offer
- Full-time position based in Barcelona.
- Hybrid work policy (on-site lab activities combined with remote work for simulation and documentation tasks).
- A dynamic and multidisciplinary environment at the intersection of medical technology, microwaves, and AI.
- The opportunity to contribute to an innovative clinical-stage technology with real-world health impact.
