WHAT CHALLENGE WILL YOU BE TAKING ON?
In our team you will provide on-site system engineering and integration support at ESA ESTEC (Noordwijk, The Netherlands) for Galileo Programme - the European Union's global satellite navigation system (GNSS), designed to provide accurate and reliable positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services under full civilian control.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Plan and execute RFCT campaigns (S-, C-, and L-band) for Galileo 1st and 2nd Generation systems, ensuring compliance with test objectives and coordination with ESA and industrial partners.
- Support test execution involving Ground Segment elements, Satellite Suitcases, and User Receivers, ensuring proper setup, operation, and data collection during RF compatibility tests.
- Monitor test progress and system behaviour, identify anomalies, and coordinate troubleshooting with relevant engineering teams.
- Record, analyse, and document test results, producing detailed RFCT logs and reports in accordance with project and ESA standards.
- Contribute to test readiness and review milestones, participating in TRR, PTR, TRB, and other checkpoints as required.
- Support Security and Robustness test activities (Sec-chain AIV) preceding RFCT execution, ensuring test environment integrity.
- Ensure consistency with qualification and acceptance test programmes, supporting adherence to verification requirements.
- Maintain configuration control of test setups and equipment, ensuring accurate documentation and version tracking.
- Participate in coordination and control boards (e.g., MTP, NRB, VCB, CCB) related to RFCT campaign activities and outcomes.
- Provide technical inputs and status updates to ESA and project stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of progress, issues, and results.
The role is based in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
WHAT DO WE NEED IN OUR TEAM?
We are looking for
system engineer
with bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related technical field and knowledge/experience in:
- RF testing, satellite ground segment operations, or system integration within the space sector.
- RF communication systems
- Familiarity with RFCT execution
- Competence in the use of RF measurement instruments (spectrum analysers, signal generators, power meters, etc.) and test automation tools.
- Experience in test data analysis, documentation, and reporting
We will also value:
- Experience with GNSS systems (Galileo, GPS, etc.) and RF signal performance analysis.
- AIV processes and review milestones
- Linux systems and scripting (Python, Bash) for test automation and data handling.
