About the Role
As a Software Engineer within the R&D; department, you will be developing Machine hardware projects to develop new machines.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out the automation design of a packaging machine.
- Based on a standard software platform, developing customized software programs for the machine according to customer specifications (PLC, HMI interfaces & Safety).
- Performing the commissioning and start-up process of the machine at the VOLPAK's worksite.
- Developing new software platforms and implement innovative motion and automation techniques according to customer requirements.
- Designing testing methods.
- Preparing the guidelines and documentation for machine operation.
- Completing projects by training and guiding technicians. Support the service team.
- Contributing to the team effort by accomplishing technical, functional, and quality goals.
The position will be based in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Spain.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Degree in Software, Automation or Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in industrial automation.
- Very good knowledge of programming in C/C++.
- Experience in motion control, configuration, programming and commissioning of servo drives, and CAM synchronization.
- Knowledge on PLC programming language (OMRON SYSMAC, B&R;, ROCKWELL LOGIX and/or SIEMENS SIMATIC & SIMOTION).
- Knowledge of programming techniques based in IEC standard (high level), modular programming, and SCADA systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of Office tools: MS Word, MS Excel.
- Strong focus on innovation and software development.
- Good command of English and Spanish. Third language is a plus.
- Autonomy, result-oriented mindset and leadership skills.
- Good understanding of customer needs.
- Availability to travel (max. 20%)
