Context and Mission
The Language Technologies Laboratory at BSC has extensive experience in NLP, including language modeling, biomedical text mining, speech technologies, and machine translation. The lab leads national projects like ALIA and AINA, and participates in EU-funded initiatives. We seek a Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in Speech Technologies, especially in Deep Learning for speech synthesis and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and implement deep learning models for speech synthesis.
* Develop, train, and evaluate NLU and SLU models.
* Ensure model quality and apply in prototypes like voice assistants and video games.
* Contribute to research projects and scientific publications.
* Mentor junior ML engineers.
Minimum Requirements
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Applied Linguistics, or related fields.
* At least 3 years of experience in deep learning frameworks and speech/audio processing.
* Knowledge of version control tools.
* Proficiency in English; Catalan and/or Spanish is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in developing open-source software.
* Experience working in dynamic ML teams.
* Strong understanding of linguistic concepts.
Conditions
* Location: BSC, Life Sciences Department.
* Full-time contract (37.5h/week), flexible hours, training, health insurance, relocation support.
