The New York Portfolios Office (NYPO) supports the United Nations Secretariat and other New York-based UN organisations, bilateral and multilateral partners in delivering the UNOPS mandate in project management, infrastructure and procurement management. 
The Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports partners with peace-building, humanitarian and development operations. 
It was formed by combining the following portfolios: Grants Management Services (GMS), UN Technology Support Services (UNTSS), Development and Special Initiatives Portfolio (DSIP). 
The SDC serves partners' programmes with a global perspective, primarily serving partners headquartered in New York, covering approximately 125 countries. 
Job Specific Context 
The Department of Operational Support (DOS) is responsible for delivering and maintaining ICT to support operational requirements of peacekeeping missions and special political missions ("field missions"). 
The Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) at DOS/UN Integral Service Center (UNGSC) serves as the resilient operational hub for delivering technology services and solutions to field operations and a broad range of Secretariat and UN system clients, providing reliable, resilient and innovative geospatial, communications and information technology services, including centralized connectivity, hosting and monitoring support. 
The Technology Solutions Engineer carries out tasks at UNGSC, Technology Development, Design & Planning Section (TDDPS), Technology Development Unit (TDU) in Valencia (Spain). 
Key responsibilities include: 
Initiating and promoting technology solutions and innovations that integrate military and civilian technologies to enhance the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of UN peace operations. 
Creating synergies that emphasize operational performance, impact and capacities by introducing modern technology to UN peacekeeping and field missions. 
Collaborating with stakeholders to identify technology gaps and develop sustainable solutions. 
Position is part of UNOPS, supporting projects carried out for the United Nations Global Service Center. 
The incumbent will be personnel of UNOPS under its full responsibility.
