Role Summary
The Supplier Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing supplier relationships with their assigned supplier portfolio to ensure quality, cost efficiency, strategy execution, and risk mitigation. The position acts as a liaison between the suppliers they manage and Category Management, Business Unit, and Integral functions as required. The role requires up to approximately 75% travel within Spain and across the EMEA region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Supplier Plans in collaboration with Category Management and BU teams, ensuring direct support of the category strategy and business strategic projects.
- Monitor spend and performance in line with category segmentation and recommend changes to Strategic & Tactical segmentation as necessary.
- Ensure compliance across all contractual agreements and supplier specific terms in alignment with Flowserve policies and procedures.
- Schedule and lead Quarterly Business Reviews / Strategic Business Reviews to ensure long‑term strategy alignment.
- Coordinate strategic development activities, collaborating with Supplier Quality and Supplier Development where required.
- Review spend trends and recommend opportunities to consolidate or contract spend.
- Manage supplier relationships, overall performance health, and continuous improvement initiatives (Supplier Health Management).
- Monitor and act on supplier performance around competitiveness, delivery, quality (COPQ), and cost.
- Collaborate with Supplier Development and Supplier Quality to manage supplier risk, addressing and mitigating high risk criteria, including maintaining risk elements in the SC Risk App.
- Coordinate escalations and risks with suppliers as raised through the appropriate escalation channels.
- Ensure alignment between supplier load, capacity availability, and business needs – propose alternative options in case of bottlenecks.
- Maintain continuous engagement, identify key stakeholders, ensure open communication channels, and keep supplier master data up to date.
- Coordinate with site or business unit leadership on escalation management and provide issue resolution support by coordinating appropriate global resources.
- Ensure business continuity and supplier responsiveness.
- Ensure internal alignment between multiple business units and a shared supplier, governing compliance to agreed terms from both the Site and Supplier perspectives.
- Maintain a formal, structured governance for escalated actions from MORs.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Supply Chain.
- Strong interpersonal, stakeholder collaboration, and relationship management skills.
- Evidenced understanding of both commercial and technical areas of supply chain.
- Very strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Project Management.
- Knowledge of supply base within the category area of operation.
- Understanding of market dynamics.
- Strong analytical skills involving collection, analysis, and interpretation of data.
- Certified Supply Chain Professional.
- Geographically mobile for development opportunities.
- Ability to influence, communicate, and collaborate at all organizational levels.
