The Job: As Director, Business Development, you will secure and retain business for PPD through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities targeting decision-makers and influencers at existing and new clinical sponsors. You will position PPD as a preferred provider for all outsourced clinical development work, qualifying deals, developing proposals, defining solutions, and recommending pricing to meet strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
* Lead RFP strategy calls, develop client proposals, prepare presentations, and negotiate contracts.
* Secure new business authorizations meeting or exceeding targets.
* Make cold calls and client visits; maintain sales database and activity reports.
* Act as liaison between sponsors and the company for business development activities.
* Coordinate with clinical development teams to ensure successful implementation.
* Gather market data on trends, products/services, and pricing.
* Maintain client satisfaction through regular contact, addressing dissatisfaction, and responding to requests.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
* Senior-level sales experience in Clinical/CRO/Laboratory Services markets.
* Proven ability to develop business contacts and close deals.
* Excellent social skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
* Knowledge of sales automation and Microsoft Office.
* Advanced business English; additional European languages are a plus.
