Offer Description

The successful candidate will primarily be involved in the following objectives: (1) data modelling and analysis of compact binary coalescence (CBC) gravitational wave signals, contributing to synergies between gravitational wave modelling and data analysis. This includes work within the framework of the group’s contributions to the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA collaborations, as well as ongoing preparations for the Einstein Telescope (ET) and LISA missions.
This position will play a key role in strengthening our research team and enhancing our ability to respond flexibly to the challenges and discoveries brought about by new observational data.
Research in the gravitational physics group at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) spans a wide range of topics, including gravitational wave data analysis, waveform modelling and numerical relativity simulations.
The group has access to its own high-performance computing cluster, as well as to external resources such as the MareNostrum supercomputer and the LIGO Data Grid. Moreover, it is an active member of leading international collaborations. The group comprises PIs Alicia Sintes and Sascha Husa, and faculty members David Keitel, Xisco Jiménez-Forteza, Antoni Ramos, Pep Covas and Jaume Carot, as well as several post-doctoral researchers and PhD students.
