Summarized Purpose :
As a Contracts Manager, you will serve as a regional lead in managing the preparation, negotiation and finalization of contract templates, process, and negotiation parameters (including, contractual terms and conditions, and ancillary documents), and oversight of associated investigator grant budget(s), with an assigned workload of clients. Ensures quality, objectivity, and risk analysis in the efficient delivery of contract templates, process, and negotiation parameters.
Responsibilities :
1. Help influence the outcome of negotiations and ensure conformity to business needs, proper risk allocation and compliance with the policies and procedures of the pharma services group.
2. Be a principled negotiator willing to stand up to unprincipled techniques and pressures.
3. Communicate with internal stakeholders and customers providing direction and guidance related to the contracting process. Negotiate contentious issues at multiple levels both internally and with the customer's negotiation team, keeping risk exposure in mind.
4. Generate creative options to break through negotiation impasses that work for all parties.
5. Strive to make the contracting process more efficient, effective, and customer-centric.
6. Follow and help improve tools used to ensure consistency of the negotiation process and maximize situational awareness for all internal stakeholders, improving turnaround times for an increasing client base.
7. Maintain and utilize the database within the contract management system of current and terminated contracts and coordinate processes to track contract flow and contractual obligations.
8. Serve as liaison between the client and manufacturing sites and business units during the negotiation phase of a project.
9. Work in a matrixed environment to coordinate results from stakeholders including sales, finance, marketing, legal, quality, and operations.
10. Advocate for the value of the contracting role within the broader business.
11. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications :
1. Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (preferably in Business or Life Sciences); MBA and/or JD, or 6+ years of negotiation experience in the pharmaceutical or CMO industry are highly preferred.
2. Excellent communication skills, including advanced English proficiency.
3. Strong analytical, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
4. Proficiency with MS Office applications.
5. Experience with high-value, complex agreements in the life sciences (pharma, biotech, medical devices).
6. Experience in FDA-regulated industries is a plus.
7. Proven ability to handle complex contractual language and understand legal implications.
8. Creative problem-solving skills to overcome objections and negotiate effectively.
9. Ability to operate under pressure, advocating principles over immediate commercial needs.
10. Capability to assess business needs and develop durable solutions.
11. Professional and constructive approach to driving outcomes.
12. Flexibility to support various time zones as part of a global team.
