Job Title: Web Front-end Developer (RE2)

About the Organization
BSC-CNS is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum and is involved with PRACE and EuroHPC JU. The mission is to research, develop and manage information technologies to facilitate scientific progress. The lab focuses on Life Sciences, ELIXIR/INB coordination, and OpenEBench in the context of Open Science and bioinformatics resources. Key Duties (Responsibilities)
Take the lead on the design and implementation of the OpenEBench visual interfaces.
Develop, document and maintain research software for integration and biological data, following ELIXIR guidelines.
Maintain communication with ELIXIR platforms, communities, and management; participate in regular meetings.
Contribute to supervising technical developments of junior members at TechBioLab.
Requirements
Education
BSc or MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Sciences or Multimedia Engineering with relevant experience in the development of visual interfaces.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
At least 2 years of professional experience in a similar role.
At least 2 years of experience with web-development frameworks (Vue.js, Angular, React or similar).
At least 2 years of User-Centered Design experience.
Experience in database design and management (SQL and NoSQL): MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite; MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Cassandra or similar.
Experience with advanced software packaging procedures.
Experience in software quality management.
Experience working with Unix/Linux systems.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience with software containers (Docker, Singularity and/or rkt) and orchestration (Docker Compose, Kubernetes, Ansible and/or similar).
Experience in developing project technical specifications.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
At least basic knowledge of Spanish.
Competences
Ability to understand scientific literature and software documentation.
Ability to communicate scientific results.
Ability to work independently and in coordination with team members.
Ability to represent the team in international project meetings.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Conditions
Location: BSC Life Sciences Department.
Contract: full-time (37.5h/week); flexible hours; training plan; restaurant tickets; private health insurance; relocation support.
Duration: open-ended contract tied to project and budget duration.
Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + 24/31 December per collective agreement.
Salary: competitive and commensurate with qualifications and Barcelona cost of living.

Recruitment Process
The process is competitive (Concurso-Oposición) with two phases: Curricular Analysis (40 points) and Interview (60 points). A minimum of 30 points is required to be eligible. The recruitment panel includes at least three people with gender representation; a gender-balanced panel is formed for each vacancy. Interviews include technical, administrative elements, and at least a personality questionnaire and a technical exercise. All participants receive feedback.
