Berklee College of Music Valencia Campus is seeking applications for part-time voice faculty for the Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration) Masters Program, and possibly teaching at the undergraduate level as well.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and effective voice instructor with a professional profile who can teach a variety of styles and could teach private instruction lessons and possibly Ensembles if needed.
Consideration will also be given to candidates who are able to teach a variety of other courses within core music, performance, production, and/or entrepreneurship.
This position reports to the program director of the Masters in Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. Bachelor’s degree in music, vocal performance, music education, or equivalent professional experience
2. Evidence of ongoing professional activity as a performer, recording artist, musical director, educator, or related music professional
3. Ability to teach contemporary music and a variety of styles (not just jazz or just pop)
4. Previous teaching experience
5. Demonstrated student-centered and inclusive teaching practices
6. Must be able to speak and teach in English fluently
Preferred:
7. Master’s degree in Music Education, Vocal Pedagogy, Music Pedagogy, Music Business, Performance, Music Production, or other closely related discipline, with demonstrated ability to connect professional practice to student learning
8. Familiarity with contemporary music harmony and ear-training pedagogies, Berklee methodologies preferred
9. Teaching experience in higher education
10. Basic piano skills required in order to accompany students
11. Ability to demonstrate musical concepts instrumentally
