We are seeking a highly technical and creative Technical Animator to join our animation team, focusing on modular hard-surface rigging for transformable vehicles. Responsibilities include building scalable rigs, creating hand-keyed mechanical animations, and developing tools to streamline our animation pipeline.
Responsibilities:
* Design and implement modular rigging systems for mechanical and transformable vehicle assets.
* Create simple, clean hand-keyed animations for mechanical parts and cinematics.
* Implement animation-friendly controls and interfaces for animators.
* Collaborate with modeling, animation, and engineering teams to ensure asset and rig compatibility .
* Develop tools/scripts (preferably in Python/MEL for Maya) to automate rigging, baking, export, and integration processes.
* Establish and document best practices for hard-surface rigging workflows.
* Support and debug rigging and animation issues in-engine.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Technical Animator or Rigging TD in gaming.
* Strong understanding of mechanical movement and constraints, especially with transforming vehicles or robotics .
* Advanced knowledge of Maya rigging, including node-based setups and scripting.
* Experience building modular rigs for scalable asset management.
* Solid grasp of animation principles as they relate to hard-surface motion.
* Excellent communication skills to explain technical solutions clearly.
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
Bonus:
* Experience with Houdini for procedural rigging or animation setups.
* Interest in robotics, sci-fi vehicles, or mechanical design.
