The Data Product Owner understands business needs and transforms use cases into products. The Data Product Owner acts as an entrepreneur, responsible for the vision, financial sustainability, and product creation. This role involves collaboration with EDAA teams and various stakeholders (internal/external) and requires leadership to introduce new products. The Data Product Owner is accountable for the "What" in terms of requirements and solutions.
Your Role
The Data Product Owner is responsible for converting initial use cases into larger products that positively impact Zurich Insurance. You will lead cross-functional teams and technologies to achieve our mission.
Main Responsibilities
* Collaborate with leadership, data and analytics teams, and other functions such as Underwriting, Claims, and Distribution to understand business demand and lead the implementation of suitable products or use cases.
* Manage the creation of Data Products, including strategic planning, prioritization, stakeholder engagement, metrics, and reporting.
* Participate actively and directly with stakeholders to create products.
* Define key metrics to measure progress and success.
* Facilitate the expansion of initial products across business units.
* Identify relevant internal and external issues affecting data needs and incorporate these into strategies, policies, and processes.
* Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within BUs, Group Functions, and external partners like cloud providers or fintech companies.
* Plan and lead sessions with internal customers to co-create Data Products.
* Track the value added by Data Products and suggest improvements or discontinuation if impact is insignificant.
* Collaborate with peers such as Data Science Leads, Project Managers, and Solution Architects to design impactful products.
* Support strategic initiatives by integrating EDAA/Data experts.
* Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in data and analytics tools and technologies.
Skills and Experience
* University degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics).
* At least 5 years of experience in the insurance industry, with expertise in underwriting, pricing, claims, risk modeling, or risk management.
* Hands-on experience with modeling, data science, visualization tools and techniques (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Azure, PowerBI).
* Strong business acumen, capable of building business cases and financial planning.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to translate business demands into technical requirements, especially with senior management.
* Experience leading end-to-end collaborative solutions, including design, planning, delivery, and feedback.
* Adaptability to complex environments and ambiguity; consulting experience is a plus.
* Strategic thinking and systematic approach to work.
* Innovative, curious, quick learner, team player.
* Proficiency in English; German is a strong plus.
