THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE Santander CIB Trade & Working Capital solutions is looking for an Associate based out of Madrid. This role combines strategic project execution with deep exposure to trade finance products and processes. The successful candidate will support and drive high-impact initiatives aimed at enhancing client experience, improving operational efficiency, strengthening risk frameworks, and supporting business growth across the Trade Finance platform. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with experience in strategic project delivery within large organizations and exposure to trade finance products and operations. In this role, you will support the design, execution, and scaling of strategic initiatives within GTB’s Trade & Working Capital Solutions platform. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Structuring, Risk, Legal, Operations, and Technology to deliver partnership-led solutions that enable corporate clients to optimize their working capital. In addition, you will actively contribute to the structuring and execution of trade and working capital transactions, supporting deal analysis, documentation, internal approvals, and end-to-end implementation. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for: Support end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives across Trade & Working Capital Solutions (receivables, supply chain finance, inventory solutions and documentary trade / guarantees). Contribute to the strategic oversight of partnerships with leading private equity firms, among other relevant stakeholders, in the Trade Finance space. Deliver high-impact financial analysis and insights (profitability, capital, liquidity and risk metrics) to inform capital allocation, prioritization and senior strategic decision-making. Coordinate cross-functional workstreams with internal stakeholders (Coverage, Product, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Treasury, Operations and Technology) and external partners, including private equity and asset management funds, to ensure robust governance, clear accountability, and operational readiness. Participate in the structuring and execution of trade finance transactions Identify and implement process improvements (templates, playbooks, data capture and automation opportunities) to enhance scalability, transparency and client experience. Prepare executive-ready materials (teasers, term sheets, presentations) and coordinate due diligence and internal approval processes with high quality and timely execution. Professional Experience 3 years of experience in corporate and investment banking, structured finance, trade finance, working capital solutions, transaction services, strategy consulting or financial advisory (Required). Experience supporting the execution of strategic projects in the Banking industry, including credit analysis, due diligence and internal approvals (Preferred). Demonstrated experience in structuring and executing Letters of Credit solutions for corporate clients, including assessment of underlying trade flows, risk allocation, pricing considerations, and coordination of internal stakeholders through closing, would be considered a plus (Preferred). Background in management consulting, especially in projects related to banking, corporate finance, or transformation initiatives, would be advantageous (Preferred). Education Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Engineering or a related field (Required).
