Randstad Professional, on behalf of a prestigious international leader in sustainable and bio-based chemical solutions, is looking for the following figure to drive expansion in the European market:
Interim Executive Manager, Strategy&Business Development Pharma
The mission of this role is to support the identification of potential customers for Bio-BDO and its derivatives (THF, GBL) within the European pharmaceutical and chemical industries, defining the market entry strategy and identifying demand structures.
Main Responsibilities
* Identify and shortlist potential customers and business units (particularly in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France, and the UK) using BDO and derivatives as pharmaceutical solvents, intermediates, and synthetic raw materials.
* Leverage existing networks with Big Pharma, mid-sized pharmaceutical companies, and CDMOs to examine applicable portfolios and identify demand structures.
* Analyze the European BDO market structure (major producers, price and supply trends) and the regulatory environment, including anti-dumping measures and ESG/sustainability requirements.
* Support the definition of product positioning, target segments, and market entry strategies, providing insights into purchasing processes and decision-making structures.
* Propose strategies regarding pricing, contractual terms, certifications, and quality requirements for the fine chemicals and pharmaceutical markets.
Requirements
* Minimum of 15 years of experience within a global pharmaceutical company, a large European pharma/chemical firm, or a fine chemicals company
* Previous experience in roles such as Director, Senior Director, or Vice President in Business Development or Strategic Planning.
* High-level expertise in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), intermediates, solvents, and the specific value chain of BDO, THF, and GBL.
* Proven ability to establish a solid network with Procurement, Process Development, and Production functions (direct contact with decision-makers).
* Strong analytical skills regarding market risks and opportunities for bio-based products.
