PPD, the Clinical Research Business of Thermo Fisher Scientific, is actively recruiting for a highly driven and successful Senior Account Director to join our Business Development (BD) team. This position supports PPD’s Accelerated Enrollment Solutions (AES) business. The AES BD team is highly dynamic, offering a first-class opportunity to demonstrate your proven success in hunting and securing new business opportunities.
AES is the world leader in patient recruitment with a global, identified patient database and a network of 180+ dedicated research sites. Our mission is to provide budget certainty and timeline reduction in the variable world of patient recruitment.
The role will support our Site Network Services, including Late-stage sites, Home trial services, and Early-stage site services.
Senior Account Director, Business Development - Site Network Services
Secures and retains business for PPD through professional, consultative, and proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and influencers at existing and new clinical sponsors. Positions PPD as a primary or preferred provider for all clinical development work to be outsourced. Qualifies deals, develops proposals, defines solutions, and recommends pricing to meet strategic goals. Acts as the primary contact until work is sold, then coordinates with relevant clinical areas to ensure successful implementation. Acts as a liaison between sponsor and company on all business development activities and requirements. Gathers data on marketing trends, competitive products/services, and pricing.
Essential Functions
* Orchestrates RFP strategy calls, develops client proposals, prepares presentations, and negotiates and closes contracts. Signs new business authorizations at or above assigned goals.
* Makes cold calls and client visits; maintains sales database and activity reports.
* Ensures client satisfaction through periodic contact; reports and develops recommendations to address dissatisfaction; responds to all client requests.
* Mentors and trains junior staff.
* Site network experience preferred.
Business Relationships
Represents the department as a prime contact on projects, interacts with internal and external personnel, and networks with senior personnel in the area of expertise.
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with relevant experience (comparable to 5+ years) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
