Position Overview
The Managing Director will be responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and strategic development of HLA. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Managing Director will oversee all line maintenance stations across Spain and ensure strong operational performance, regulatory compliance, financial discipline, and customer satisfaction.
This is a high-responsibility executive role within a demanding and dynamic operational environment. The successful candidate must be comfortable operating in fast-changing contexts and demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and strong decision-making capabilities.
The role requires a professional with solid experience in an aviation MRO environment, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage geographically distributed teams while maintaining the highest operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for HLA in alignment with the wider HeavyTech MRO group strategy.
- Identify opportunities for growth, including new station development and expansion of services across Spain and key airports within the network.
- Translate group strategy into operational execution within the Spanish market.
- Strengthen HLA’s position as a trusted line maintenance provider within the aviation maintenance sector.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day operations across all HLA line maintenance stations in Spain.
- Ensure operational efficiency, reliability, and high standards of technical performance.
- Monitor operational KPIs, service quality, and operational performance across the network.
- Drive operational improvements and ensure effective coordination between stations located at major airports across mainland Spain and the islands.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with aviation regulatory requirements, including EASA Part-145 standards.
- Maintain a strong safety culture across all stations and technical teams.
- Ensure adherence to all quality, safety, and regulatory management systems.
- Work closely with aviation authorities, quality departments, and regulatory bodies when required.
Commercial & Customer Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with national and international airline customers and aviation partners.
- Support commercial negotiations, service agreements, and customer development.
- Ensure high levels of service delivery and operational reliability for airline clients.
- Represent HLA with airline operators, airport authorities, aviation regulators, and industry stakeholders.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop station managers and operational teams across Spain.
- Promote a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Support recruitment, retention, and development of highly skilled aviation maintenance professionals.
- Encourage collaboration between stations and corporate teams.
- Manage operational budgets and ensure financial performance aligns with business objectives.
- Hold responsibility for the company’s profit and loss (P&L;) performance.
- Monitor operational costs, profitability, and resource allocation across stations.
- Contribute to business planning, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the key representative of HLA within the HeavyTech MRO group.
- Provide regular operational and strategic reporting to the CEO.
- Ensure alignment between HLA operations and group strategic objectives.
- Support group initiatives and collaboration across the wider organization.
Candidate Profile
The adecuado candidate will possess:
- Extensive experience within the aviation maintenance sector, particularly in aircraft line maintenance or MRO environments.
- Proven leadership experience in a senior management or director-level role within an airline technical organization or MRO.
- Strong knowledge of EASA Part-145 regulations and aviation compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-station operations and geographically distributed teams.
- A strong operational mindset with the ability to make decisions in high-pressure and fast-moving environments.
- High levels of flexibility, adaptability, and resilience, with the ability to operate effectively in demanding and constantly evolving operational contexts.
- A hands-on, solution-oriented leadership style, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing relationships with airline operators.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent Spanish and strong professional English.
- The right to live and work in Spain.
