SAP ABAP Developer
for the Financial Accounting and Asset Management team.
As the central solution provider for information and telecommunications systems in
REWE Digital Spain
we plan, develop, configure, and operate efficient systems and applications for the
REWE Group, one of the leading trade and tourism groups in Germany and Europe, with around 390,000 employees. Our team of over 2,200 IT specialists sets standards for IT implementation in the retail industry and develops new technologies for the sector. Currently, we manage more than 80 logistics centers, 100 wide area network cables, and over 23,000 local network connections to ensure continuous data supply to the 32,000 scanner check-out desks in more than 7,500 stores.
The Financial Accounting and Asset Management team ensures accurate and compliant financial processes within our complex SAP system architecture. Core responsibilities include general ledger accounting, and monthly and annual closings in line with national and international accounting standards. Our product also manages the entire fixed asset lifecycle in SAP – from acquisitions and retirements to depreciation and reporting. By working closely with our stakeholders, we contribute to financial transparency and support the ongoing digitalization and optimization of finance processes.
What you will do
In your position as a software engineer, you may also take on tasks as requirements engineer and process manager in addition to the classic activities of an SAP ABAP developer. You can look forward to these exciting topics, among others:
* You design, develop, and optimize next-generation company-specific applications focusing on innovation in the S/4HANA and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) environment, based on ABAP OO programming and RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
* You will develop new solutions and ensure the stability and continuous improvement of existing systems, bridging old and new technologies.
* Our SAP WEB Portal contains interfaces such as Web Dynpro ABAP, which you will gradually replace with Fiori and BTP.
* You will design, test, and implement complex SAP/NON-SAP interfaces using modern web technologies.
* You will receive regular training and further education through workshops and in-house training courses, collaborating with SAP technology experts.
* Your work will simplify colleagues' tasks by optimizing business processes, developing solutions for digitalization and harmonization, especially in procurement, and supporting operational implementation.
* By understanding commercial processes and systems, you will get a comprehensive view of the current status and collaborate with functional consultants and business units to translate business needs into technical solutions, prioritizing standard SAP approaches and minimizing custom developments.
* You will utilize our SAP Learning Hub for ongoing technical knowledge expansion and future readiness.
What you will bring

* Several years (5+) of experience in programming with ABAP/-OO in SAP modules (FI, MM, or SD).
* Experience with development environments like ABAP Development Tools (Eclipse) or SAP HANA Studio, especially under S/4HANA, with modern technologies such as CDS, RESTful ABAP (RAP), and Fiori Elements.
* Good experience in interface programming, such as IDOC, REST, or batch input.
* Experience in configuring and customizing in SAP is a plus.
* Excellent command of English is essential.
* Experience working with agile procedures is an advantage.
* A degree in business administration, (business) informatics, or a comparable qualification is required, along with legal residence and work authorization in Spain without sponsorship.
