OFFER DESCRIPTION
The Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) is offering a specialized research technician position to study the behavior of emerging contaminants in groundwater. The contract is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the European Fund through the Ramón y Cajal scholarship (RYC2020-030324-I/MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and the FSE “The FSE invests in your future”).
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support the laboratory in sampling and sample pre‑treatment.
* Analyze emerging contaminants in groundwater using innovative liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC‑MS/MS) and high‑resolution mass spectrometry (LC‑HRMS) techniques.
* Participate in field campaigns to study the occurrence and transport of these compounds in groundwater.
* Quantify analytes and process data derived from LC‑MS/MS and LC‑HRMS analyses.
* Prepare technical reports and contribute to results evaluation.
The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment alongside analytical chemists, microbiologists, ecologists, and hydrologists, and will also share tasks such as laboratory maintenance and procurement of materials.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Required
* Degree or Master’s in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Biology or equivalent. PhD is a plus.
* Training in laboratory and/or field work.
* Knowledge of sample preparation and analytical techniques involving liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry for emerging contaminants.
* Proficiency in statistical data analysis using R or similar tools.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to write technical reports.
* Team‑working ability and capacity to work independently.
* Valid driver’s licence is an advantage.
