Job SpecificationSenior Electrical Manager (Commissioning-Focused) Contract: 8 months (Freelance/Contract) Location: Palencia, Castilla y León, Spain (Site Based) Start: ASAP / Subject to mobilisation Schedule: Full-time on site (typical construction schedule)Project OverviewWe are delivering a large-scale solar PV development in the Palencia region, including associated MV electrical infrastructure and grid interface works (switching stations / substation connection works). Role PurposeThe Senior Electrical Manager will lead the electrical construction delivery on site while ensuring the project is driven toward commissioning readiness, energisation, testing, and handover. This role suits someone who has managed electrical packages end-to-end and can work confidently across construction + commissioning interface (even if they are not the appointed Commissioning Manager).Key Responsibilities (Electrical Construction)Take full ownership of electrical scope delivery, including planning, sequencing, and progress reporting.Manage electrical subcontractors across LV/MV works, ensuring quality, productivity, and programme adherence.Oversee installation activities such as:AC/DC cable containment and cablingInverter stations / transformer stationsMV switchgear / RMUs (as applicable)Earthing, bonding, and lightning protection systemsSCADA/communications and metering interfacesCoordinate all electrical interfaces with civil, mechanical, grid, and commissioning teams.Lead daily/weekly coordination meetings and drive resolution of access, design queries, and blockers.Maintain strict control of materials, tools, test equipment, and installation readiness.Ensure works are executed in line with project drawings, specifications, and applicable standards (IEC / local codes).Commissioning-Focused Responsibilities (Interface + Readiness)You will support and align with commissioning management activities, including:Ensure the project is built in a way that enables smooth pre-commissioning and commissioning execution.Drive Mechanical Completion (MC) / system walkdowns and close-out of punch lists.Own electrical ITPs, inspection sign-offs, and completion dossiers for energisation.Support / coordinate:Pre-energisation checks (IR tests, continuity, functional checks, settings verification)Cold commissioning and SAT readinessEnergisation planning and permits-to-work / switching coordinationLiaise with OEMs and specialists (inverters, transformers, protection relays, SCADA).Support the Commissioning Manager in compiling and closing:Test packs / commissioning packsAs-built documentation and redlinesHandover dossiers to client / O&MHSEQ & ComplianceLead by example on HSE culture, enforcing RAMS, PTW, LOTO, and safe isolation practices.Ensure electrical installation quality meets spec and all non-conformances are managed correctly.Maintain accurate reporting on progress, constraints, quality metrics, and look-ahead plans.Required Experience & SkillsStrong experience as Senior Electrical Manager / Electrical Construction Manager / Lead Electrical Supervisor on large industrial or energy projects (Solar PV, substations, grid works, power plants, BESS).Demonstrable understanding of the commissioning lifecycle (MC → pre-com → energisation → testing → handover).Confident managing subcontractors, programme, permits, and technical problem-solving on site.Strong knowledge of MV/LV electrical systems, protection concepts, testing principles, and QA processes.Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders: EPC team, client reps, OEMs, grid parties.QualificationsElectrical Engineering qualification (Degree / HNC/HND / equivalent trade background with strong project history).Electrical safety competency (LOTO / HV awareness essential).CSCS/ECS (or local equivalent) preferred depending on mobilisation route.LanguageEnglish required (project delivery level).Spanish beneficial but not essential.What Success Looks LikeElectrical scope delivered safely, on time, and to spec.Clear commissioning readiness structure with minimal delays at energisation stage.Strong documentation and test pack closeout enabling smooth handover.
