The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC‐CNS) is Spain's leading supercomputing center. It hosts MareNostrum, one of Europe's most powerful supercomputers, and is a founding member of PRACE and now the hosting entity for EuroHPC JU. BSC's mission is to research, develop and manage information technologies that facilitate scientific progress.
BSC combines HPC service provision with R&D; in computer and computational science across life, earth, and engineering sciences. The center has over 1,000 staff from 60 countries and delivers high‐performance computing for scientific projects worldwide.
The Technologies for Biomedical Research Lab (TechBioLab) within BSC's Life Sciences Department brings together specialised teams to enable life sciences research. TechBioLab focuses on developing infrastructures that support bioinformatics, research data management (especially in healthcare), and scientific and technical benchmarking of research software.
TechBioLab also contributes to the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB), the major bioinformatics platform in Spain and the Spanish node of ELIXIR. The INB coordinates bioinformatics infrastructure and collaborates on projects such as TransBioNet and ImpaCT in Spanish, aligning with European initiatives like ELIXIR, 1+Million Genomes, and FAIR4Health.
Develop, document and maintain research software for biological data integration, following ELIXIR guidelines
Maintain communication with ELIXIR platforms, communities, and management;
Supervise technical developments of junior team members at TechBioLab
BSc or MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or Multimedia Engineering with relevant experience in visual interface development
At least 2 years experience with a web‐development framework (Vue.Js, Angular, React, or similar)
At least 2 years of User‐Centered Design experience
Experience in database design and management (MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Cassandra, etc.)
Experience with advanced software packaging procedures
Experience in software quality management
Experience working with Unix/Linux systems
Experience with software containers (Docker, Singularity, etc.) and orchestration (Docker Compose, Kubernetes, Ansible, or similar)
Experience in developing project technical specifications
Fluency in English, written and spoken
Basic knowledge of Spanish acceptable
Ability to understand scientific literature and software documentation
Ability to represent the team in international project meetings
Full‐time contract (37.5 h/week) with adaptable working hours, extensive training, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and relocation support
~ Open‐ended contract tied to the project and budget duration
~22 days of holidays + 6 personal days + observed 24th and 31st December per collective agreement
