DESCRIPTION
Amazon is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to support and maintain software solutions powering a large Reliability, Maintenance Engineering (RME) enterprise. The RME Automation team develops integrated software systems aligned with Industry 4.0 visions, connecting automation systems with the cloud across all levels of the automation pyramid. These systems utilize Machine Learning and Big Data to enable predictive actions, reduce downtime, and enhance equipment effectiveness. This role offers the chance to collaborate with top engineers and influence automation and machine learning initiatives within Amazon's extensive fulfillment network.

Key job responsibilities
As a System Development Engineer I (SysDE I) within the MAP team, your main duties include designing, developing, testing, and deploying software, systems, infrastructure, hardware, networking, or automation enhancements, primarily in AWS and field deployments. You will approach tasks with a focus on architecture, contributing to seamless Factory 4.0 solutions based on AWS services.
About the team
The Maintenance Automation Platform (MAP) Team ensures machine-generated data leads to effective proactive and predictive maintenance actions. Our goal is to mature and unify core software tools into a comprehensive Maintenance Automation Platform.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
* 3+ years programming experience in modern languages like Java or Python
* 3+ years programming experience with PLC platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, IEC 61131-3)
* 2+ years designing or architecting scalable, reliable systems
* 2+ years in systems development within IT or data center environments
* 2+ years in systems design, automation, and process improvement
* Experience creating tools for building, testing, releasing, or monitoring
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
* Experience working in Agile, Scrum environments
* Experience with distributed systems at scale
* Knowledge of databases and SQL
