Responsibilities
Societe Generale Madrid is seeking an Analyst to strengthen the local Advisory & Financing Group (AFG) team. This department is part of the Investment Banking Division (IBD) and plays a central role in strategic dialogues with key corporate clients, offering debt & rating advisory, and executing complex financings in event-driven situations such as M&A, spin-offs, IPOs, and restructurings. The team originates and underwrites acquisition and strategic finance deals and manages debt and rating advisory mandates.
As a trendsetter in digital strategy and ESG rating dialogue, AFG is also a leader in innovation. The Spanish team currently comprises 4 members.
The candidate will participate in the origination and execution of acquisition finance and/or rating advisory mandates, providing integrated debt structuring, capital structure, rating advisory, and acquisition finance solutions to key clients, and promoting SG's offerings in loan and capital markets, working closely with coverage and corporate finance teams.
Main Responsibilities:
* Assist in pitching targeted clients to generate acquisition finance/rating advisory mandates, under senior team members' supervision, providing guidance on debt structuring, capital structure, debt raising, and rating matters.
* Support multi-product pitches and execution processes.
* Deliver accurate financial models and financing materials.
* Contribute to fostering collaboration between AFG and other GBIS business lines to deliver innovative financing and rating solutions with optimal execution.
* Identify cross-selling opportunities within SG’s product range.
Origination and Execution:
* Produce or assist in producing financial models, marketing materials, credit/rating analyses, and conduct due diligence as applicable.
* Assess transaction feasibility, including underwriting and capital commitments, considering resources and profitability metrics.
* Familiarize with mandates, term sheets, and legal documents, reviewing them with senior team members and external/internal counsel.
* Assist in executing mandates/deals timely and in compliance with SG procedures, liaising with closing and back-office teams.
* Supervise interns to ensure quality and adherence to deadlines.
* Ensure proper use of documentation standards and compliance with risk limits and regulations, including confidentiality and insider information management.
* Report transaction progress, exposure, and escalate issues to AFG management and COO.
Other Responsibilities:
* Contribute to the development and promotion of AFG and related products to clients and within SG.
* Stay updated on market, sector methodologies, and product innovations to enhance origination strategies.
* Manage operational risks and adhere to internal guidelines, including compliance with SG’s Code of Conduct.
* Participate in recruiting, appraising, and developing junior staff and interns.
* Provide guidance and training, fostering a collaborative work environment within AFG.
Profile Required
Studies & Experience:
* 2 to 4 years of experience in a similar Investment Banking role.
* Bachelor’s degree in economics, Business Administration, or Engineering.
Language Skills:
* Excellent English proficiency.
Technical, Operational & Soft Skills:
* Solid credit/rating knowledge and origination skills.
* Strong financial modeling expertise.
* Ability to independently contribute to mandates and marketing pitches under supervision.
* Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
* Excellent time and project management skills.
* Team-oriented, proactive, and initiative-taking attitude.
