Classroom Teacher - Job Description

KEY PURPOSES
Supporting Actions Success Measures
* Develop shared schemes of work that challenge all students, aligned with St. George's vision and policies.
* Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to create a rich, flexible curriculum that promotes excellent achievement and appropriate challenge, linked to accountability measures.
* Follow the school's ALN Policy, maintain knowledge of students' needs, and ensure lesson planning and delivery meet the needs of SEN and EAL learners.
* Participate in joint planning, moderation, and review of schemes of work and assessment tasks.

* Plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons using appropriate assessments to promote progress and outcomes.
* Maintain current subject knowledge, including exam board specifications.
* Assess students' prior knowledge to plan effective lessons that motivate and challenge.
* Provide regular formative feedback, including through marking and peer/self-assessment, encouraging responses.
* Undertake assessments and contribute to external assessment processes.
* Use varied delivery methods to stimulate learning and develop ATL and learning skills.
* Record and monitor student progress systematically.
* Write accurate student reports following school guidelines.
* Deploy classroom support effectively.
* Manage behaviour to ensure a positive, safe, and engaging environment.
* Establish clear rules and routines.
* Create a safe, proactive, and stimulating environment respecting safeguarding policies.
* Adhere to health & safety policies.
* Promote courteous behaviour and cooperate with staff to manage resources.
* Establish effective working relationships and contribute to school management.
* Build respectful relationships with pupils and staff, observing professional boundaries.
* Fulfil pastoral duties as a form tutor/class teacher.
* Monitor student progress and well-being.
* Communicate with parents and external bodies regarding student welfare.
* Engage in continuous professional development and reflect on practice.
* Participate in performance reviews.
* Contribute to the wider school community through participation in events and activities.
* Take on roles that support school development.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed, with review at the end of the academic year or earlier.
