SEK International School - El Castillo is currently seeking a well-qualified, dynamic, and dedicated Sciences Chemistry-Physics teacher to join the Sciences subject group in the Middle Years Programme.
SEK International School – El Castillo is a co-educational, day and boarding, bilingual, and international school located approximately 20 km from downtown Madrid, with a student body of 1,100 students. While most students are Spanish, 30% come from 50 different nationalities. Teachers hail from various locations including Spain, the UK, other parts of Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The school has been an IB World School since 1977 and is authorized to offer the PYP, MYP, and DP. It is also accredited by NEASC and a member of the Council of International Schools. The school is part of the SEK Educational Group, which has campuses across Spain, France, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, and Qatar.
Job Objectives :
* Identify and promote core learning skills and teaching strategies within the MYP.
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Chemistry and Physics, ensuring accessibility for all students.
* Encourage best practices through support, advice, and training across the school, delivering the IB continuum (PYP, MYP, DP).
Responsibilities :
* Plan, prepare, and deliver courses according to the school curriculum, IB guidelines, and school requirements. English will be the language of instruction.
* Develop and present lesson plans using diverse teaching models and techniques, incorporating relevant technology.
* Manage course provisions for your subject area.
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop and revise curriculum documents, assessments, and reporting methods.
* Stay updated on developments in the subject area and teaching methodologies.
* Observe, monitor, and assess student learning and progress.
* Prepare assessments, homework, and projects.
* Model inquiry-based practices and uphold the IB learner profile.
* Differentiate lessons to meet diverse student needs based on ability and achievement.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with parents.
* Promote good behavior and a positive classroom environment aligned with IB values and school policies.
* Create a safe, secure, and stimulating learning environment.
* Support students academically and personally through tutorship roles.
* Utilize ICT effectively to support teaching and learning.
* Prepare students for qualifications and external exams.
* Participate in school meetings, professional development, and school events.
* Contribute to school initiatives that promote school culture, leadership, and values.
* Hold a relevant university degree and accepted teaching certification.
* Possess native or near-native English proficiency (C1 level or higher).
* Hold a European passport or valid work visa for the EU.
* Have experience working in international schools and familiarity with MYP and/or DP.
* Ability to teach in Spanish.
