The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress.
The Digital Health Unit, led by Dr. Paula Petrone, applies artificial intelligence to healthcare with the goal of delivering innovative solutions that make a true impact for patients. This position is part of a collaboration with the AI in Cardiology Group at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau.
Context And Mission
The successful candidate will work in a highly sophisticated HPC environment, have access to state-of-the-art systems and computational infrastructures, and establish collaborations with experts and companies in different areas at the local and international levels.
Key Duties
* Develop AI models for cardiology, with emphasis on analysis of cardiac signals, medical image analysis, and integration of biomarkers into predictive models.
* Collaborate with clinical researchers and cardiologists to co-design and validate AI tools.
* Contribute to the development of product-ready applications for use in healthcare settings.
* Ensure models are robust, explainable, and clinically relevant.
* Publish and disseminate results in scientific and innovation forums.
Requirements
* Master’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields.
* Hands-on experience in deep learning applied to biomedical data.
* Strong background in signal processing, particularly for biomedical signals such as cardiac data.
* Proven expertise in medical image analysis, preferably in cardiology or related healthcare domains.
* Solid programming skills (Python or similar) and use of deep learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow).

* The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department.
