Overview
The Finance Director for Southern Europe is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership across all countries in the region (e.g., Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Andorra). The role ensures financial integrity, drives performance, leads budgeting and forecasting processes, resource allocation and partners with local and regional leadership to support sustainable growth, profitability, and compliance.
Responsibilities
Strategic & Financial Leadership
* Strategic partner in the cluster executive team, driving financial decision-making aligned with corporate objectives.
* Develop and execute financial strategies to support business expansion, profitability, and risk mitigation across the cluster.
* Drive a value creation mindset in all we do – growth, margins, effectiveness and efficiency of our spend.
* Business transformation to a model that enables standardisation and scaled services across the value chain for S4 Hana implementation.
Performance Management
* Lead financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
* Lead resource allocation across the cluster and effectiveness of spend.
* Identify trends, risks, and opportunities in cluster markets.
* Optimize cost structures and resource allocation.
Operational & Financial Management
* Ensure accurate and timely consolidated financial reporting across multiple countries (often under IFRS/US GAAP and local GAAPs).
* Lead monthly and quarterly financial reporting and provide performance analysis and insights to regional and group leadership.
* Ensure robust financial controls, accounting standards compliance (e.g., IFRS/local GAAP), and accuracy of financial reporting.
* Strong Balance Sheet management.
* Drive a best-in-class Cash Conversion Cycle across receivables, inventories and payables.
* Working in seamless collaboration across global and regional shared services and centers of excellence.
* Ensure compliance with local regulations, SOX, tax laws, and corporate policies.
Team Leadership & Development
* Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance team.
* Coordinate with country-level finance teams to ensure consistency and excellence in financial operations.
* Drive continuous improvement and standardization in finance processes, systems, and tools across the region.
Risk, Compliance & Governance
* Ensure compliance with local tax, legal, and regulatory requirements.
* Support audits (internal and external) and implement recommendations.
* Ensure a strong control environment, with zero SOX deficiencies.
* Identify and manage financial risks proactively across the region.
Business Partnering
* Partner with commercial, operations, HR, and legal teams to evaluate and support business initiatives (e.g., pricing, contracts, investments).
* Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to support projects / strategic initiatives (e.g., M&A, restructuring, market entry, price repositioning, portfolio analysis).
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; MBA or equivalent preferred.
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
* 15+ years of progressively responsible finance leadership experience, including regional or multi-country oversight.
* Experience working in a multinational corporation, ideally within Beverages or FMCG.
* Proven track record of driving financial performance and leading transformation initiatives.
* Strong analytical and strategic thinking.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills.
* High integrity and a hands-on, results-oriented approach.
* Fluent in English and at least one Southern European language (e.g., Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, or Greek).
* Proficient in financial systems.
* High Leadership Agility.

* Achievement of financial targets (NSV, EFO, margin, cost control).
* Accuracy of financial forecasting and reporting.
* Finance team engagement and capability development.
* Successful audit outcomes and compliance rates.
