Zone Lead Data Engineer
Our client is a well-known multinational food company based in Barcelona. The Zone Data Engineering Lead is responsible for creating a cohesive and collaborative environment where data engineers can share knowledge, standardize practices, and drive innovation. This role ensures that data engineering efforts across the organization are aligned, efficient, and effective, ultimately contributing to better data-driven decision-making and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
1. Knowledge sharing and collaboration:
* Facilitate regular workshops and discussions to share knowledge, tools, techniques, and best practices among data engineers.
* Encourage collaboration on common challenges and innovations, fostering a community of practice.
1. Establishing standards and best practices:
* Define and document best practices and coding standards.
* Ensure consistency in data engineering practices across teams to maintain data quality and integrity.
2. Technical guidance and support:
* Provide mentorship and technical guidance to data engineers.
* Support critical capability issues and ensure best practices in data pipeline development, warehousing, and integration.
3. Tooling and technology stack:
* Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies for data engineering.
* Standardize the technology stack to streamline operations.
4. Development and evaluation:
* Organize training sessions, certifications, and professional development opportunities.
* Promote continuous learning and experimentation with new techniques.
5. Cross-functional collaboration:
* Work closely with other chapters, such as data science, platform engineering, and data visualization, to ensure alignment of data initiatives.
Position Requirements
* Degree in Computer Science or related field.
* English proficiency: C1 level.
* Knowledge of Azure, Azure Data Stack, Azure Databricks.
* Minimum 7 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 5+ years leading data engineering teams.
* Proficiency in Python, SQL, PySpark, and experience with ETL, data modeling, and cloud platforms (Azure).
* Leadership skills, experience mentoring teams, and stakeholder collaboration.
* Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
