BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D in computer and computational science across life, earth and engineering sciences, with over 1000 staff from 60 countries.Context And MissionWe are looking for a coordinator for the Finance Projects Team.
Reporting to the Head of the Finance Projects team, the Unit Coordinator will support and manage the financial aspects of BSCs competitive projects.
The Unit Coordinator oversees one area within the Finance Projects team, ensures effective policy and procedure implementation, and oversees economic planning, budget control, and reporting for research and institutional activities.
The role includes leading and supporting the team, while directly managing a portfolio of own projects and collaborating with BSC researchers to ensure funding agency compliance and efficient use of financial resources for project activities.Key DutiesUnit Leadership and Coordination: Manage day-to-day operations of the finance project unit, monitor budgets, maintain project information in SAP, and prepare financial reports for funding agencies.
Lead unit teams with clear communication, goal alignment and performance monitoring.Funding Compliance and Reporting: Ensure administrative and financial reporting for all active grants, prepare and submit documentation for funding agencies, and coordinate with external auditors for project audits.Resource Planning: Assist Principal Investigators in planning financial and human resources for national and European-funded projects.
Monitor budgets to ensure spending aligns with projections and keep indirect cost rates updated.Collaboration with Stakeholders: Serve as a point of contact for external auditors and ensure project reporting aligns with BSC standards and funding agency requirements.
Work with PIs on financial aspects of project planning, including resource allocation and budget forecasts.Operational Support and Reporting: Maintain accurate records in BSC's SAP Business One project database and support policy development to improve financial management within the finance project units.RequirementsEducation: University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Master's degree in Finance or Project Management is preferred.Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: 5-8 years of experience, with at least 2 years in a similar financial coordination or project management role.
Strong command of English and Spanish; Catalan or other languages are a plus.
Familiarity with finance project requirements in public or research institutions.
