Individuals / Organisations & Collectives Artists Music & Sound, Performing ArtsThe Castell de Peralada Private Foundation announces the fourth edition of the Carmen Mateu Young Artist European Award, Opera and Dance. This edition focuses on the opera category, specifically artistic-educational projects. Participants are invited to present a multidisciplinary educational project suitable for various venues, with the theme ‘The opera is for you,’ aimed at teenagers.The award aims to bring opera closer to young audiences, fostering new spectators for opera and performing arts through contemporary creations that resonate with younger generations.The goal is to engage diverse age groups in theatre, music, dance, and opera by utilizing new languages and innovative approaches.The 12 selected projects, to be announced at the end of September 2025, will enter a second phase requiring submission of part of the libretto, stage design sketches, and 3 to 5 minutes of music. This phase will conclude by 15 November 2025.Applicants must be European citizens or residents, aged 35 or younger at the time of application. Applications can be submitted individually or as a group, with all members meeting the age requirement.The selected work will be presented at the 2026 Perelada Festival in Perlada, Spain, or in subsequent programs, with potential touring across various locations in the country.The total cash prize for this edition is 40,000 EUR, designated for creating and producing the educational project, covering fees, expenses of the creative team, and production costs for the premiere at the Perelada Festival.
