**Description**:
As the IT Systems Administrator in the Technology Department, you will work closely with various Departments and Race Teams to manage telemetry and data transmission from the boats to The Ocean Race HQ. Your role includes developing databases with AWS, visualizing data with Grafana, testing new devices and technologies, and actively contributing ideas within the Department. During the Race, you will travel to stopovers to deploy and maintain IT and boat infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations and on-site user support.
You will report to the Head of IT and you will be expected to have reasonable flexibility in your role, responsibilities, and schedule according to business requirements.
It would be idóneo if you start as soon as possible, and the role will run until the 8th of October 2025. This position will be based in Alicante with international travel during the Race.
**Essential day-to-day responsibilities**:
- Maintain the Race Database and telemetry systems.
- Assist teams in telemetry data transmission and tracker configuration.
- Develop and maintain back-end and front-end code for onboard telemetry systems.
- Design and implement functional requirements, including data visualization with Grafana.
- Test new systems, software, and technologies to optimize race performance.
- Develop and test multimedia connectivity solutions.
- Set up and manage IT infrastructure at stopovers.
- Provide on-site IT support during the race.
**Additional Responsibilities**:
- Support The Ocean Race HQ team with network installation and configuration.
- Assist end-users with IT-related issues.
- One Team: Proactively contribute to fostering a one-team approach with other departments within The Ocean Race, and with our extended The Ocean Race Family.
**Minimum requirements**:
- **Cloud & Database Management**: Experience with AWS and strong knowledge of databases to develop and maintain the Race Database.
- **Networking & Security**: Familiarity with networking providers such as Mikrotik and Fortinet, with a focus on ensuring network security and availability.
- **Systems & Scripting**: Proficiency in Mac and Linux environments with intermediate scripting skills.
- **Telemetry & Development Expertise**: Strong understanding of telemetry systems, data transmission, and tracking technologies, with the ability to support and optimize data solutions.
- **Language Skills**: Fluency in English is required; additional languages (Spanish, French, German, or Italian) are a plus.
- **Legal Requirements**: Must be an EU national or eligible for necessary EU work permits.
- **Location & Travel**:Based in Alicante, with occasional travel outside race periods and extensive travel during the event.
- **Communication & Collaboration**: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and external partners.
