About Global Risk, Security & Resilience

The Global Risk, Safety and Resilience (GRSR) team manages the company's operational risks and advises the business on other commercial, strategic or reputational challenges. With functions covering audits & investigations, business resilience (incident & crisis management, business continuity), digital risk, event security, global operations & insights, health, safety & wellness, newsroom safety, executive protection and workplace security. The department covers a diverse technical portfolio leveraged to ensure risks are reasonably managed, security threats addressed and disruptions limited in support of Dow Jones' strategic goals.

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Lead, Health, Safety & Wellness to join our team in Barcelona. You are responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and wellness initiatives in compliance with local regulations and company policies. This role aims to foster a safe and healthy workplace while promoting employee well-being and engagement. You will report to the Director, Workplace Safety & Security.

You Will

Health & Safety Management

* Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with Spanish labour laws and international safety standards.
* Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
* Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, including maintaining necessary documentation and liaising with local authorities when required.
* Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
* Organize, and in some cases deliver, safety drills, emergency response plans, and relevant safety training for employees.
* Manage relationships with occupational health services and ensure employees have access to medical assessments when necessary.

Employee Wellness & Engagement

* Develop and promote workplace wellness programs, including mental health support, stress management, fitness initiatives, and healthy lifestyle campaigns.
* Organize health awareness workshops, ergonomic assessments, and wellness events to enhance employee engagement and productivity.
* Collaborate with the People department (human resources) to address employee health and wellness concerns and absenteeism.
* Monitor and analyze wellness program effectiveness and employee participation, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.

Training & Compliance

* Conduct health and safety training for employees, managers, and contractors, ensuring awareness and understanding of policies and best practices.
* Keep up to date with changes in local and international occupational health regulations and ensure company policies remain compliant.
* Develop safety guidelines, manuals, and e-learning materials for employee reference.

Reporting & Analysis

* Maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents, risk assessments, and wellness initiatives.
* Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on key health, safety, and wellness metrics.
* Identify trends and suggest proactive measures to improve workplace safety and employee well-being.

You have

* Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Human Resources, or a related field.
* Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is a plus.
* 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within a corporate or industrial environment.
* Knowledge of Spanish health and safety legislation and best practices.
* Experience in developing and implementing wellness programs in a corporate setting.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to train and engage employees at all levels.
* Ability to analyze data and generate reports for decision-making.
* Fluency in Spanish and English (both written and spoken).
