AXA’s headquarters (GIE AXA) brings together our corporate activities with around 1000 employees, distinguished by a strong international culture (45 nationalities). The Group Investment & Asset‑Liability Management (GIA) department consolidates local investment decisions, leverages group expertise, and steers investment ideas. Within GIA, you’ll join the EM Sovereign Research team reporting to CIO IMA.
Job Purpose
Your mission is to assess the creditworthiness of EM Sovereigns and propose an Internal Credit Rating for a set of EM Sovereigns relevant to AXA Group’s investment portfolio. You will also provide ad‑hoc research analyses regarding EM Sovereign Credit Research when relevant. Additionally, you will contribute to the EM Sovereign Comprehensive Review, the team’s annual review of all EM Sovereigns in its coverage.
Responsibilities
To achieve its mission, you will be responsible for:
- Performing a fundamental credit analysis of issuers under your coverage
- Monitoring the credit profile of your covered issuers, with a special focus on rating migration risk
You will produce thorough, in‑depth credit assessment reports with internal credit rating and eligibility status proposals, and timely surveillance notes on key credit events. You will monitor economic news‑flow and credit events, and adjust recommendations accordingly. You will also keep a critical view of issuers based on diverse information sources, discussions with asset managers, meetings or calls with issuers, rating agencies, and market participants. You will work closely with the EM Sovereign Credit Officer to ensure consistency of research coverage and output, and may carry out tasks for local entities, Group Risk Management, or senior management.
Key Accountabilities
- Write in‑depth credit assessment reports with internal credit rating and eligibility status proposals
- Produce timely surveillance notes on key credit events
- Provide feedback, information, or alerts when changes in economic or financial conditions are detected
- Carry out ad‑hoc team projects (e.g., development of alert tool, data analysis initiatives)
- Build relationships outside the team (asset managers, GRM, local entities) and outside the Group (rating agencies, issuers, brokers)
- Work closely with EM Sovereign Credit Officer
Your Profile Technical Competencies
- Strong credit analysis skills
- Analytical and technical skills to perform fundamental credit analysis
- Strong understanding of general economics, macro‑economic concepts, and major financial indicators
- Strong writing and communication skills in English
The targeted background for the role includes:
- Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Finance or Business
- At least 5‑7 years of experience in credit analysis (or 7‑9 years of relevant financial or international institutional experience)
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- CFA or equivalent can be a plus
Soft Skills
- Autonomous in performing fundamental reviews and communicating recommendations
- Strong communication skills to clearly convey analytical convictions
- Ability to seek dialogue with peers to consider various complex issues
- Organizational skills and ability to deliver under tight deadlines
