About the Department & Team

The Spanish Distribution team is composed of 2 people: Head of Distribution, reporting to the General Manager in Spain and the European Head of Distribution; and Broker Relationship Manager, reporting to the Head of Distribution. The promotion of LSM is also supported by the European Marketing & Communications Manager.

Key Responsibilities
* Establish new and develop existing deep and long-lasting strategic relationships with key Liberty Spain brokers while serving as their primary contact within the organisation.
* Expand relationships into new products and additional coverages with both existing and potential Liberty Spain brokers to grow the business in alignment with established targets.
* Partner with internal teams across Liberty to bring the full suite of products and services to key broker relationships.
* Manage and develop partnerships with our brokers network, to drive efficient and profitable growth for LSM Spain underwriting teams.
* Foster relationships externally with brokers and the key people within their organisations.
* Develop relationships internally with LSM Underwriters, Claims teams and Risk Engineers to provide brokers with coverage solutions and services needed to achieve their business goals.
* Act as advocate and voice for designated brokers within LSM and wider GRS to guide brokers seamlessly across the organisation.
* Execute relationship growth strategies to effectively generate new business with existing and potential brokers while meeting profitability targets.
* Clearly understand both the underwriting appetite and business strategy of all facets of LSM and wider GRS: articulate and support it in the marketplace.
* Contribute to the broker management strategy and development roadmap.
* Proactively identify and satisfy broker needs through regular ongoing high touch communication and delivery of market insights and thought leadership.
* Partner with business leaders and the Underwriting organisation to keep communication channels open and ensure internal alignment while keeping the organisation informed of areas of concern and/or opportunity (e.g., new areas for product development/innovation).
* Strengthen and expand the quality and depth of relationships with “tier 2” brokers by developing structured engagement, visibility and high standards of quote responsiveness and service, better identifying in-target business opportunities for LSM aligned with UW risk appetites and UW authorities.
* Put in place the defined strategies to drive more effective broker interaction leading to improved performance in business retention and new business.
* Understand your main brokers’ business strategy in order to identify, modify, create and build strategic alignment with LSM Spain strategic plans and implement smart broker action plans which drive disciplined and organised broker development initiatives which can be regularly monitored.
* Understand fully UW risk appetites, capabilities and differentiators to allow for efficient alignment of business flows with UW teams.
* Represent LSM at industry events.
* Support the distribution team and LSM Spain as a whole with portfolio/business data:
o Assist in the preparation of all broker/client meetings (preparation of materials)
o Help in the preparation of the quarterly review with the major brokers (production of materials)
o Opening and follow-up of broker codes
o Respond to requests from other Liberty Specialty Markets departments
o Preparation and analysis of portfolio renewal files
o Follow-up of specific partnerships with major brokers
o Realization of the supports to the internal commercial meetings of Liberty Specialty Markets
Skills and Experience
* Bachelor degree or equivalent, plus a proven track record of dealing successfully with brokers.
* Knowledge across a broad range of P&C and Specialty products.
* Understanding of risk selection, policy language, pricing models, contract structure and reinsurance.
* Able to maintain and defend LSM underwriting position.
* Able to understand complex problems and the skill to simplify, break down and deliver solutions.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, both for building internal collaboration and developing relationships with key people in charge of brokerage.
* Able to move forward in a changing context.
* Excellent judgement in recommending potential courses of action.
* Highly effective oral and written communication skills.
* Occasional business travel required in regions.
* Good English and Excel.
