Context And MissionThe Machine Learning for Biomedical Research Unit, led by Davide Cirillo, seeks a junior research engineer to work on multi-omics data integration for the clinical and molecular characterization of colon cancer. This project is a collaboration with FRCB‑IDIBAPS, addressing cancer research, genetics and pathophysiology of colon cancer, bioinformatics methods and workflows, integrative factor analysis, classification and prediction.
Key Duties
Process and analyze multi‑omics data.
Participate in internal group meetings and other scientific discussions.
Requirements
Education
Master in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or any field related to AI and biomedicine.
Degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology or any field related to AI and biomedicine.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Knowledge in Computer Science, Bioinformatics and/or Computational Biology.
At least +1 year of experience with the R programming language.
Knowledge of additional programming languages (e.G., Python) and user experience with HPC.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Competences
Good communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Conditions
Location: BSC, Life Sciences Department.
Contract: Full‑time (35 h/week) with adaptable working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, relocation support.
Duration: Open‑ended contract linked to project and budget.
Holidays: 22 days of holidays + 6 personal days + 24th and 31st of December per collective agreement.
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience, according to the cost of living in Barcelona.
Starting date: 01/07/2026.
