Offer Description
IdiPAZ seeks Degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Biology or a similar field to join a public research project funded by the Carlos III Health Institute and financed by Next Generation EU funds, which support the actions of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) led by Dr Antonio Carcas, director of the IdiPAZ Clinical Pharmacology research group.
The project to which the selected candidates will be assigned, “ENE-Covid Senior II”, aims to carry out immunological monitoring of volunteers in a clinical trial related to COVID-19. Thus, one of the main objectives is the development and standardisation of protocols for monitoring cellular responses to the COVID-19 vaccine and/or SARS‑CoV‑2 infection.
IdiPAZ Health Research Institute is the result of a partnership between the Hospital Universitario La Paz, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, the Healthcare Advisory Council of the Community of Madrid and the Foundation for Biomedical Research of Hospital Universitario La Paz, which will be the managing body of the Institute. This strategic alliance has made it possible to tackle research projects through joint multidisciplinary teams belonging to these institutions, making the most of the human and material resources available to these entities for research and promoting research fundraising.
In 2021, the scientific production of IdiPAZ included more than 1,600 publications (articles, editorials, letters, reviews, etc.), 43% of the publications being our own documents. Original research and review articles by IdiPAZ researchers exceeded 1,200, more than 45% in the first quartile and more than 16% were published in journals of the first decile. Researchers from our institute have shown their participation in national and international scientific networks, with more than 81% of the total number of papers published in collaboration (81.3%). As for collaborative publications, almost 56% were national collaborations and 45% were international collaborations.
Since our formal incorporation as an Institute in 2009, we have been implementing measures and actions of particular importance that have laid the foundations for a new organizational culture based on equality, diversity and non-discrimination. The duties involved in the position consist of:
* Handling of hospital samples from healthy volunteers participating in a clinical trial.
* Assessment of the cellular response to SARS‑CoV‑2 infection caused by various variants of concern.
* Preparation of reports and presentation of scientific findings within the laboratory.

Specific Requirements
* Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy/Medicine or a Bachelor’s degree plus a Master’s degree in Biology or a similar field.
* Experience: Demonstrable experience in a research laboratory.
* Skills:
o Determination of the duration of cellular immunity using immunological techniques, such as enzyme‑linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
o Processing of clinical samples.
o Assessment of cellular immunity against SARS‑CoV‑2.
o Use of ELISA and PCR for clinical diagnosis.
o Strong organisational skills.
o Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Eligibility criteria
* Training and curricular merits: 6 points.
* Personal interview: 4 points.
In the event that two or more candidates match the values and needs of the institution and meet the conditions required for the post, and where there is a tie, the candidate with a certificate attesting to a minimum degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 per cent shall prevail.
Selection process
Once candidates send their application to the IdiPAZ email address, their applications are stored until the deadline for receipt of applications for the offer is up. The HR department of IdiPAZ will make a first selection of applications selecting those who meet the criteria required in the offer. The selected applications are then evaluated by the selection committee, composed of the head of human resources at IdiPAZ, the President of the IdiPAZ Internal Scientific Committee and the Project Manager which will apply the scales described in each call for applications. Once the candidate is selected, he/she will be contacted by the HR department of IdiPAZ to provide the required documentation.
