OpenNebula Systems has been leading the development of the European open source technology that helps organizations around the world to manage their corporate data centers and build their Enterprise Clouds. Since 2019, and thanks to the support from the European Commission, OpenNebula has been investing heavily in edge computing innovation and playing a key role in strategic EU initiatives.
Job Description
Directly reporting to the CEO, the Product Officer will oversee and manage the cross‐functional activities concerning the OpenNebula product to ensure it supports the company’s strategy and meets market demands. The Product Officer will translate business strategies into technical requirements, including specifications for software development, and will manage product planning and execution across development, engineering, community, sales and marketing.
What You Will Do
Perform research on the cloud and edge management platform market and ecosystem.
Do competitive landscape and benchmarking to analyze and compare product features and identify gaps and opportunities.
Contribute to the definition of the product strategy, including vision, positioning, competitors and differentiation.
Define the value proposition conveying what the product is and how it is strategically positioned to aid future marketing and sales initiatives.
Communicate the product strategy internally and align the teams involved in development, delivery, support, promotion and sales.
Engage with prospects, users and customers to develop a deep understanding of their needs.
Gather and analyze feedback from users, customers, projects and stakeholders to help define, prioritize and maintain requirements for product features and integrations.
Pilot new features with a specific subset of users to obtain early feedback and adoption.
Create and maintain a detailed product roadmap with requirements, epics and user stories.
Contribute to the design of the global architecture, APIs and internal architecture of the main building blocks.
Schedule, manage and coordinate product releases across multiple teams and keep up with timelines for implementation and delivery schedules.
Manage and mitigate risks and resolve issues regarding release quality and schedule.
Work with community and marketing on product communication and promotional material, leading press releases and campaigns related to product releases or features.
Monitor the release process, downloads and collect feedback from the teams and customers for review.
Continuously measure and analyze product performance and expansion into new markets, using data to inform future product decisions.
Drive user adoption and awareness, assist in go‐to‐market strategies, product messaging and marketing plans, and present at industry conferences and write whitepapers.
Schedule, plan and chair the meetings of the Product Management Board.
Ensure all team members adhere to product development best practices and enforce policies.
Stay updated on emerging technologies, best practices and industry standards to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
What You Will Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of hands‐on experience in development, project or product management in the cloud computing field.
Hands‐on experience in managing or contributing to open source projects.
Deep understanding of product vision, launch and related concepts.
Extensive knowledge of the software development process and agile practices, including defining user stories, writing clear product requirements and collaborating closely with designers and developers.
Strong collaboration, teamwork and leadership skills, with the ability to set goals and provide constructive feedback.
Ability to work effectively in an agile environment and apply critical product concepts such as MVP.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey strategy at multiple levels and interact with external stakeholders.
Strong organizational, planning and follow‐up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
