About the Role
We’re looking for a Data Engineer with an interest in geospatial data to take ownership of one of the most critical foundations of our product: the address database.
This is not a typical data pipeline role. You’ll work on building and maintaining a highly accurate, unified address system that powers data linking, search, and product quality across the platform. In Belgium, this is particularly complex due to fragmented government data sources, historical changes, and inconsistent formats—making this a genuinely challenging and high-impact problem space.
If address resolution fails, everything built on top of it suffers. That’s why this role sits at the core of our data platform.
What You’ll Do
* Own and evolve the address database, the backbone of our data platform
* Ingest, clean, and unify multiple external data sources into a consistent format
* Build and improve pipelines for address matching, linking, and enrichment
* Handle complex geospatial challenges such as historical address changes, merging municipalities, and inconsistent formats
* Ensure high data quality and accuracy across all downstream use cases
* Collaborate with product teams (e.g. agent tools, listings, search) to enable reliable data usage
* Contribute to broader data engineering initiatives within the Core Data team
Why This Role Matters
* Direct impact on product quality across the entire platform
* Work on one of the most complex and complete address datasets in Belgium
* Solve real-world geospatial problems (not just theoretical GIS work)
* High ownership and autonomy within a small, experienced team
* Opportunity to shape how foundational data is built and used across multiple products
What We’re Looking For
Must-have
* Strong background in Data Engineering
* Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, validation)
* Solid SQL skills and experience working with large datasets
* Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to reason through complex data challenges
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of a critical domain
Nice-to-have
* Experience with geospatial data (GIS) or strong interest in learning
* Experience with AWS-based data infrastructure
* Experience with Elasticsearch / OpenSearch
* Familiarity with PHP (or willingness to learn)
* Exposure to multi-source data integration or messy/fragmented datasets
* Knowledge of Belgian geography/data sources (a plus, not required)
Team & Environment
You’ll join the Core Data team (6 engineers/scientists) within a wider engineering org of
~60. This team acts as the foundation for multiple product teams, meaning your work
will be widely used across the business.
The team is collaborative, pragmatic, and focused on solving real data problems rather
than over-engineering solutions.
Hiring Process
* Recruiter screening
* Technical assessment (Python/AWS-based or equivalent)
* Technical discussion (problem-solving & system design)
* Final interview with hiring manager
Additional Notes
* This is a new role created to unlock broader data engineering capacity
* You won’t be starting from scratch—there’s strong existing infrastructure to build on
* We’re open on background: strong Data Engineers with an interest in geo are
preferred over pure GIS specialists
Location
Belgium (Brussels or Ghent preferred)
Hybrid: ~2 days/week in office
