Medical Writer Job Description
The Medical Writer (MW) is part of the Project Team. MW may work directly with clients, doctors, scientists, and other professionals in the medical/pharmaceutical field, coordinating with other team members. MW is responsible for researching and writing a variety of educational, promotional, or informative materials for different target audiences, including protocols, event summaries, slide decks, medical content, educational materials, and briefing documents.
Medical Writer Responsibilities
* Research and develop written materials to the highest scientific and grammatical standards, according to internal/client briefs.
* Contribute to document quality control, reviewing data accuracy, formatting, language appropriateness, and compliance with guidelines.
* Ensure technical accuracy, correct interpretation of source documents, attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to tailor materials for various educational needs and audiences, adhering to timelines and budgets.
* Incorporate internal/client/author comments scientifically and accurately.
* Exercise good interpersonal and communication skills for effective liaison with team members, clients, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders to obtain comprehensive briefs and responses.
* Participate in meetings with relevant stakeholders and respond effectively to queries.
* Monitor projects, manage workload, anticipate capacity issues, and suggest solutions.
* Engage in continuous learning about new regulations, industry standards, medical data, and processes impacting Medical Writing.
Medical Writer Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Science/Medical;
PhD or MD preferred.
* Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
* Strong computer skills including MS Office and Internet research tools.
* Good research skills and ability to interpret scientific and clinical data.
* Strong medical writing skills and presentation skills.
* Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively.
* Excellent attention to detail and grammatical skills.
* Critical thinking and ability to structure complex information clearly.
* Ability to multitask and work under pressure with good organizational skills.
* High fluency in spoken and written English.
Work Environment
* Some travel (5%) for face-to-face meetings if necessary.
* May need to accommodate global teleconferences across different time zones.
