Head of PE
We are looking for a new Head of PE to lead our thriving department in a dynamic international school in Spain. The Head of Department (HOD) provides strategic leadership and management for the physical education department, ensuring a high‑quality, coherent curriculum that aligns with educational standards and school goals.
Responsibilities
* Conduct regular learning visits and follow‑up learning conversations.
* Encourage colleagues to engage in the leading the learning process and manage staff line‑management, including reviewing teacher learning self‑evaluations and setting targets.
* Analyse learning visit data, produce action plans, and write an annual improvement plan with SMART targets.
* Support staff induction and professional development, including CPD training and staff insets.
* Oversee curriculum resource development and evaluation.
* Design inspirational learning environments and champion student wellbeing, safety, safeguarding, and health & safety.
* Manage resources, budgets, inventories, and policy implementation for the department.
* Prepare and deliver parent information sessions, communicate updates, and support community engagement.
* Work with EAL and SEN coordinators to support learning and inclusivity.
* Coordinate with primary school counterparts to align curricula and support vertical progression.
* Assist with international learning opportunities and future pathways mapping.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Degree or equivalent in relevant subjects.
* Good up‑to‑date subject knowledge and practical skills.
* Successful secondary teaching experience.
* Evidence of leading and sustaining whole‑school initiatives.
* Knowledge of the National Curriculum and exam specifications.
* Strong leadership, motivation and team‑building skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and improve outcomes.
