Job Description Summary
Join Novartis as the Head of Business Planning and Analysis REFS Rest of World region, a pivotal role providing financial expertise and driving the achievement of REFS financial, transformation, and savings targets. As a key member of the REFS ROW LT and REFS Finance LT, this role acts as the strategic Finance partner for the REFS RoW Head.
Responsibilities include coordinating the REFS Planning and Reporting for the RoW Region, providing decision support for high-impact investments/projects, and leading innovative productivity & offshoring/outsourcing initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to manage and develop a high-performing team, while providing leadership to cross-functional teams and making a significant organizational impact.
Major Accountabilities
* Partner effectively with REFS Finance globally, Operations Finance, and REFS Business Leadership teams in RoW to align financial strategies and objectives.
* Provide cost transparency and ensure understanding of key cost drivers for REFS RoW by location and business area (Real Estate Mgmt, Design Construction Mgmt, Facility Mgmt, HSE).
* Evaluate risks & opportunities, communicate findings, and recommend mitigation strategies. Follow up to ensure issues are addressed promptly.
* Understand and stay current with business strategies and objectives, partnering to provide cost-effective solutions, such as identifying savings opportunities.
* Provide timely, accurate financial management reporting on operations and project costs to support performance management and decision-making.
* Collaborate with Country/Region Finance and Business in REFS, across Operations and divisions, providing financial expertise for evaluation, execution, and tracking of investments/divestments and projects in RoW.
* Establish standardized processes for investment/divestment and project approval, ensuring adherence to Novartis policies.
* Create robust monitoring and reporting for key KPIs related to savings and performance.
* Ensure compliance with accounting practices in line with NAM, MAL/FIKO, SOPs, and policies.
* Train and develop the finance team to be recognized as a value-adding function.
Minimum Requirements
* University Degree in Finance / MBA / CPA
* English mandatory; Spanish beneficial
* 10-15 years of experience in budgeting, controlling, and reporting for shared services and real estate functions or equivalent.
* Experience with strategy implementation, system development, cost management, performance monitoring.
* Experience in multi-function projects and change management.
* Accounting, internal audit, and financial reporting experience.
* Strong stakeholder business partnering skills.
* Active cost management skills.
* Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, with working knowledge of Ariba.
