Their technology powers more seamless, safe, and sustainable air travel. They are looking to hire an experienced Scrum Master to support a Data Governance Implementation Project.
About the Role Job Summary: The Scrum Master – Data Governance Implementation is responsible for driving agile delivery of data governance initiatives, ensuring cross‑functional teams work efficiently and collaboratively to embed governance capabilities across the enterprise. This role facilitates Scrum ceremonies, removes impediments, enhances team maturity, and ensures alignment between business stakeholders, data governance teams, and technical delivery teams. The ideal candidate combines strong Agile leadership with experience in data governance, data quality, or enterprise data management.
Agile Delivery & Scrum Facilitation
• Lead Scrum teams responsible for implementing data governance capabilities (metadata, data quality, lineage, data stewardship workflows).
• Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Support Product Owners in maintaining a well‑organized and prioritized backlog aligned with governance roadmap and enterprise data strategy.
Coordinate across business units, data owners, data stewards, and IS teams to ensure smooth delivery of governance features.
• Support the adoption of best practices for Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or hybrid models).
Data Governance Implementation Support
• Help translate data governance strategy into actionable work items (e.g., implementing business glossaries, defining Critical Data Elements, establishing stewardship workflows).
• Ensure teams understand the business value of governance deliverables, such as improved data quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Promote alignment with data governance policies, standards, and operating models.
Mentor team members on Agile principles, effective collaboration, and self‑organization.
• Support change management efforts to increase adoption of data governance practices across the organization.
Provide clear, transparent reporting on sprint performance, velocity, impediments, and KPIs.
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions between data governance teams, business stakeholders, and technical SMEs.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Data Management, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead.
• Demonstrated experience with data governance or data management initiatives (metadata, data quality, data ownership, GDPR/BCBS239/other regulatory compliance).
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, Lean.
• Experience working with enterprise data platforms or governance tools (Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation, Ataccama, etc.).
• Agile Certifications: CSM, PSM I/II, SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or equivalent.
• Understanding of data governance frameworks (DAMA‑DMBOK, EDM Council DCAM).
• Ability to coach teams with varying levels of Agile maturity.
