The Guitar
The Paulino Bernabé Model 15 is a fully professional concert-quality classical guitar, made in Madrid, Spain. It has the volume, projection, and quality of sound to prove it. The Model 15 is constructed entirely by hand in Paulino Bernabé Jr’s Madrid shop in collaboration with qualified luthiers who work with him using traditional tools and techniques.
Tonally: this guitar offers Paulino’s signature clear, rounded, and polished singing trebles. These are well balanced against profound but well-defined basses. It delivers excellent projection and musicality. The separation, intonation, and evenness from note to note are superb. The handling of this guitar is extremely pleasant, and it sounds distinctly open.
The Model 15’s back and sides are made of solid Indian rosewood, it has an ebony fingerboard, and a high-quality German Spruce top. It features a Nitro lacquer finish and is fitted with Schaller tuners. The guitar is in as-new condition, with proof of purchase from 2019 (first owner), along with official PB certificates, a spare set of PB strings, and two spare string clips.
Bernabé guitars are played in major venues worldwide. For example, Thibaut Garcia, winner of the 2016 Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) competition, has been playing a Bernabé for several years. Alongside his son Paulino Jr., he built guitars from the 1980s onward. Before that, Bernabé Sr. worked in José Ramirez III’s workshop during the 1950s and 1960s.
