The Team

Real Estate Debt Investments (Mortgages) focuses on the strategic deployment and servicing of mortgages in both the Canadian and US market. These investments are diversified by size, region, and property type with a focus on industrial, office, apartments, and retail. As a stable institutional investor, we can negotiate high-yielding investments that provide attractive security on a risk-adjusted basis.

Role Description

Reporting to a Senior Mortgage Operations Specialist, the Mortgage Operations Specialist (MOS) is responsible for the administration and servicing of QuadReal's debt portfolios by tracking and monitoring mortgage cash flows, disbursements, and other key data. The MOS is responsible for data entry into the loan management system (PLM) and performing a range of technical functions in support of the overall goals of the department.

The MOS is in daily contact with other departments and external parties and must maintain accurate records in all aspects of customer service, ensuring documentation and internal control procedures are met. To ensure compliance, a thorough understanding of anti-money laundering regulations is required. The MOS is responsible for ensuring departmental policies, procedures and documents are updated and maintained on SharePoint.

Responsibilities

- Coordinates the collection of principal and interest payments, fees and taxes including the completion and distribution of cash and transactions to other departments as required; and

- Monitors payment due dates and resolves late payment situations; and

- Ensures escrow accounts are maintained where necessary and reported to required regulatory bodies; and

- Monitors, reviews and records insurance policies, property taxes, financial statements and other documentation and events in accordance with compliance requirements; and

- Prepares documentation and calculations for funding of loan advances, pre-payment penalty calculations and discharges and ensures internal control procedures have been met within time critical deadlines; and

- Obtains, records, and documents all due diligence items (such as consultant and credit reports) as required by Portfolio Manager(s) for all loans; and

- Liaises with solicitors, borrowers, and third-party consultants as required and responds to borrower, auditor and accountant information requests; and

- Liaises with the IT department as required to resolve technical issues with PLM; and

- Actively adheres to compliance and risk management policies, ensures PLM integrity remains intact as \"book of record\" and participates in business continuity planning.

Experience and Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

Must have:

- Minimum 3 to 5 years financial sector experience

- Seasoned understanding of mortgages, loan documentation, banking practices, treasury functions and accounting principles

- Strong organizational and technical skills

- Ability to effectively multi-task

- Excellent customer service skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred:

- Experience in commercial mortgage servicing

- Experience in commercial banking or investment operations

- Experience in construction mortgages, CMBS and syndications/participations

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $70,000 – $78,000.

Based on the position, QuadReal offers a competitive total rewards package in addition to the base pay, which may include a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, pension plan, and paid time off.

The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual's skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
